Karen is a versatile and skilled physiotherapist with over 20 years of industry experience and a strong sporting background. Karen aims to optimise, movement, function and performance in all ages by taking an active approach to physiotherapy.
Karen has a Masters in Physiotherapy and a Bachelor of Applied Science- Exercise Science both from the University of Queensland and both with first-class honours. Karen was also awarded the prize for academic excellence in her graduating year. She completed her thesis in Whiplash and the treatment of neck-related injuries at the University of Queensland under the guidance of Professor Gwen Jull. She practised as an exercise physiologist in rehabilitation whilst completing her study of physiotherapy. Karen has worked extensively as a physiotherapist in hospitals and private practices both in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Complimenting her keen interest in exercise therapy, Karen has also completed her training in Clinical Pilates and has worked in studios in London and Australia. Whilst in London Karen enjoyed teaching a range of clients including members of the Royal Ballet School.
Karen has developed a special interest in post-operative rehabilitation after she was fortunate enough to work with some of Queensland’s leading orthopaedic surgeons for several years at Mater Private Hospital and Brisbane Private Hospital.
Karen has a young active family and is passionate about pre and postnatal care and women’s health. Karen enjoys treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions with a broad range of treatment techniques. Some of her additional qualifications include Women’ s Health Physiotherapy, Dry Needling and Advanced Manual Therapy- Treatment of Pelvis and Lumbar Spine Level 1 and 2.
